Welcome to the W. Montague Cobb/NMA Health Institute.
As the new chair of the Cobb/NMA Health Institute I am delighted to work with the board and advisors to continue to move the mission of the Cobb Institute forward. I am confident that we can develop and promote solutions toward reducing racial and ethnic health inequities for all populations of the U.S. Our vision is to become a valued resource for data, information, and research pertaining to racial and ethnic health and health disparities and to leverage the scientific skills and clinical acumen of healthcare providers to produce reality-based solutions.
To achieve this end, we have established the Cobb Community of Scholars referred collectively as the “Cobb Senior Fellows”, and cultivated partnerships with universities and organizations that support our mission. We have conducted multiple educational symposia as well as research Consensus Panels that included topics on HIV/AIDS, Cancer, Professional Pipeline Development, Immunization Disparities and Racism in Medicine. We continue to publish the peer-reviewed “Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities” now in its 5th year.
We will strive to continue this journey by encouraging researchers to focus on translational research that will transfer the academic research model into holistic community-participatory research. We strongly believe that this will lead to evidence-based clinical practices focused on vulnerable populations with the greatest health inequities.
We invite and encourage all conscientious healthcare providers, researchers and like-minded organizations to join us on this journey.
