All of Us Research Program - Engagement Partner

“The All of Us Research Program will change the way we do research. Participants will be partners in research, not subjects, and will have access to a wide variety of study results. What we’re doing with the All of Us is intersecting with other fundamental changes in medicine and research to empower Americans to live healthier lives.”

 - Dr. Francis S. Collins, Director, National Institutes of Health (NIH)

The Cobb Institute has served for nearly two years as an Engagement Partner to the All of Us Research Program of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Our call to action has been to engage African Americans and other medically underserved populations who face disproportionate health burdens, and who are also currently underrepresented in research for health.

Toward that effort, in addition to our many engagement and outreach events, our All of Us e-Toolkit was created in order to support provider leadership in All of Us and the larger precision medicine movement to empower patients, providers, researchers, policymakers and whole communities.

Our objectives are as follows:

  • Engage with physicians, specifically African American and minority physicians, about All of Us and its potential relevance to their patient population.

  • Continually inform All of Us about lessons learned from minority physicians about barriers and strategies for enrolling minority and traditionally medically underserved populations.

  • Serve long-term as a trusted resource to minority physicians who are facilitating the enrollment process with their patient populations to help ensure that the populations who face disproportionate health burdens, and who are also currently underrepresented in research for health, can benefit from the enrollment of an inclusive Cohort.
