Cobb Lifetime Achievement Awardees
Each year The Cobb Institute awards the W. Montague Cobb Lifetime Achievement Award and the the Cato T. Laurencin M.D. Ph.D. Lifetime Research Award. Recipients of these awards are honored at the Opening and Awards Ceremony of the NMA Convention and Scientific Assembly and presented by the Executive Director and the Chair of the Steering and Oversight Committee for The Cobb Institute. A W. Montague Cobb Reception in their honor is also held on the evening of each W. Montague Cobb Scientific Symposium and Lectureship held at the Convention. W. 2026 W. Montague Cobb/NMA Health Institute Health Disparities Symposium
The 2026 Health Disparities Symposium, presented by the W. Montague Cobb/NMA Health Institute in collaboration with Howard University Hospital, will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Washington, D.C. Centered on the theme “Advancing Equity in Education, Research, and Healthcare,” this year’s program will explore how emerging technologies, chronic disease management, and clinical research are shaping the future of equitable care. The symposium will bring together clinicians, researchers, educators, policymakers, medical students, and residents for dynamic discussions on innovation, access, and advancing diversity across the healthcare ecosystem.
