Through research and policy analysis, the Cobb Institute seeks to inform communities, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to improve practice, policy and decision-making.

SENIOR FELLOWS 

Led in scholarly work by the Senior Fellows, who are influencers, thought leaders and changemakers, The Cobb Institute functions as a community of researchers and practitioners who maintain the highest standards of academic excellence and research innovation as we advance evidence-based solutions for racial and ethnic disparities in health and healthcare. 

SCIENTIFIC SYMPOSIA

The Cobb Institute regularly highlights the work and findings of researchers and practitioners who are advancing solutions and strategies for racial and ethnic disparities in health and healthcare. In addition to Scientific Symposia, The Institute also occasionally host Roundtables, On-Demand Webcasts, poster sessions and workshops.

NIH All of Us RESEARCH PROGRAM

Our Institute has served for nearly two years as an Engagement Partner to the All of Us Research Program of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Our call to action has been to engage African Americans and other medically underved populations who face disproportionate health burdens, and who are also currently underrepresented in research for health.

COBB SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The Cobb Scholars represent a unique group of individuals who have achieved academically at a high level and have goals of becoming successful research specialists, clinicians and educators. They receive professional coaching and networking with the goal of developing high-level leadership skills in new transformational leaders who can collaborate across sectors, clinical professions and disciplines.

ACTIVE CONSENSUS PANELS

The Expert Consensus Panels represent a current, active community of scholars who have been brought together by The Cobb Institute to exchange ideas and to continually contribute to a furthering of the health disparities discourse.

NATIONAL HEALTH DISPARITIES ELIMINATION SUMMITS

The National Health Disparities Elimination Summits at the University of Connecticut Health Center are the result of successful collaborative partnerships between the Connecticut Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (CICATS) at the University of Connecticut and the W. Montague Cobb/NMA Health Institute.

ANNUAL AWARDS/HONOREE PROGRAM

Each year since 2006, The Cobb Institute has awarded the W. Montague Cobb Lifetime Achievement Award, the Cato T. Laurencin M.D., Ph.D. Lifetime Research Award, and the Cobb Lecturer Award. Recipients of these awards are honored at the Opening and Awards Ceremony of the NMA Convention and Scientific Assembly

LITERATURE SCANS

At least monthly, we try to highlight new articles from Our Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities as well as the Journal of the National Medical Association, Journal of the American Public Health Association, Journal of the Poor and Underserved, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), Health Affairs, Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, Nature Medicine, and British Medical Journal, among others.
