Trauma-informed mental health care emerged from recognizing how trauma and PTSD shapes mental health. It prioritizes safety, empowerment, and collaboration, shifting focus from "What's wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?" With a focus on healing and resilience, it has reshaped care systems and violence reduction initiatives to be more compassionate, responsive to lived experiences, and inviting participation by the whole community.
